BRANCH MANAGER’S REPORT
10,964 items circulated March 2026 compared to 10,348 items in March 2025, an increase of 5.95%. For the year at the end of March circulation is 30,790 items compared to 29,529 during the same time frame in 2025 an increase of 4.27%.
Community Outreach Efforts
The Senior Supervisor and a Senior Library Assistant represented the Ridgefield Community Library at View Ridge Middle School’s Spring Showcase April 16, sharing information about library programs and resources and offering activities.
The Branch Manager represented the Ridgefield Community Library as a partner during the Clark County YMCA Healthy Kids Day April 18. This included activities like throwing velcro axes at a target to guessing book titles from seeing just the covers to promoting District and local library services and programs. The Ridgefield Lions Club did vision testing using the library’s small study room.
Noteworthy Events
Angel Ocasio performed at the Ridgefield Community Library April 9 to an eager audience of 31. This is the first time a performer has put on a show during Spring Break in Ridgefield.
Nik Gordon, one of the volunteer Game Masters for the Tween and Teen Tabletop Role-Playing Game Adventure, spoke at the volunteer reception at the Vancouver Community Library on Saturday April 18.
All first graders from South Ridge Elementary, 7 classes worth, visited the Ridgefield Community Library April 28, April 29, April 30 and on May 1. Besides learning about the library’s collection for kids, students also did scavenger hunts; met the dogs who volunteer for Read to a Dog; and took library card applications.
Community Engagement Stories
Union Ridge Elementary PTA’s President brought Ridgefield Community Library staff pizza, fruit, and soft drinks for lunch April 21 as a thank you for being great partners.
The branch manager contacted a teacher at South Ridge Elementary with the goal of reading to students at the school. She also provided the name of next year’s President of the South Ridge Elementary PTA.
Program Successes
At Early Learners Music and Movement April 1, 15 parents and their babies came to enjoy moving with music, to play and to socialize.
The Senior Library Assistant provided instruction leading to certification on April 2 and shared information about the library 3D printer during an Open Lab April 7.
The Senior Supervisor is leading a table during Tween and Teen Tabletop Role-Playing Game Adventure on Tuesdays due to one of the volunteer Gamemasters being unable to continue.
Adult Dungeons & Dragons ballooned to 13 participants at the program April 25 from 6 at the first meeting in March.
